TALA RAASSI

FASHION IS FREEDOM
A novel by - Tala Raassi

#FashionIsFreedom

I feel like I am naturally conservative and casual when it comes to my fashion style these days. As a
stay at home mum, much of my days are spent either at home, the in laws house or at the supermarket
oh how exciting my life has become! I do absolute love being a mum, don't get me wrong and getting
dressed up and playing with fashion trends and makeup is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. Gone
are the days pre-motherhood when my husband and I would regularly go out most nights and go on
various adventures where there were plenty of opportunities to wear more formal and fun
(and sometimes uncomfortable) clothing! Don't feel sorry for me yet. I am just grateful to be able to
wear what I like everyday and not be conformed to try to make a uniform to look good on me! I feel
for those people. I used to be one of them, for many years!

In saying all of that, I have always had a passion for fashion and design, often drawing up sketches
during math class at school. Doodles of my art often replaced any actual work I was meant to be
doing. I think I may still have some stashed away somewhere, so I will see if I can dig one up and
place it below...

It is no wonder I am useless when it comes to math, I am sure my teacher must have hated me...

Getting on with telling you about his absolute eye opening and inspiring read by Tala Raassi. This
novel is so good, even if you're not into fashion I would recommend picking it up and giving it a
chance. Yes, it is a story about fashion, freedom, women and so much more! This is the kind of
novel I love to read because it is real, teaches me so many things about the world we live in and
encourages me to aim higher, believe stronger and keep on persisting my goals.

In short - This is a true story, Tala's story. She grew up in Iran where the world as we know it here in
Australia is so very different! At just 16 years old she wore a mini shirt. What's the big deal right?
Wrong! In Iran this is considered breaking the law for women and she was sentenced to 5 days in jail
which included a whopping 40 lashes! Like seriously, WTF? This in my mind is completely crazy
and OTT on behalf of the Iran religious police! Absolutely ludicrous in my mind when there are soo
many more important issues and other serious crimes which should be attended to and save the cells
for the murderers and rapists, not a young innocent women simply expressing her love of fashion!

Fashion Is Freedom is available now for purchase from Amazon.com for RRP: $29.99

I am so happy for Tala for being brave and moving to the US after her ordeal to not only escape the
chains of her country but to then become incredibly successful in pursuing her passion and creativity
eventually creating her label "Dar Be Dar" which was even the sponsor of the Miss Universe pageant
in the Swimwear category back in 2010!

Tala's swimwear designs are for every women to feel comfortable and proud in her own skin.
She has collections of both one and two piece sets which consist of a rainbow of trendy colours,
patterns, cut outs, frills and features.

If you're on the market for a statement option for the up coming Summer months then you are sure
to find something to love from her designs. Her prices are also very affordable with each piece RRP
around the $100 mark which is very conservative for designer swimwear!

You can check out her current collections here!
Let me know which piece catches your eye!
My favourites are her Hipster Glow in Black & Fiesta also in Black!

ORGANYC

~  ORGANYC  ~

Biodegradable Organic Cotton Monthly Products!

We all get our period. Fact! (Well most of us females at some point!) But do you actually have any
idea what the monthly products you are using on and inside your own body are made from and how
you using them are effecting the environment? I never thought much about it until I learnt of this
brand. Organyc.

Organyc is 100% Certified Organic and is made from cotton grown and approved by the Soil
Association! (That's a pretty big deal as The Soil Association have mega strict standards and
specific requirements!- eg. How the cotton is grown, harvested, stored as well as conservation criteria.)
Further info on Organic Standards by the Soil Association can be found here.
The cotton used is grown without the use of any chemicals, pesticides or toxins.

Organyc supply a great range of sanitary products to suit your monthly needs weather you're a
pad or tampon girl. Each box is clearly marked between one and six white rain drops so you
can easily pick out and choose a product to suit your needs.

Below you will find three from their range I have been trying out over the past month.
All worked well for me on different days for different reasons.

Below I explain...

x10 Ultra Thin Pads - Moderate w/Wings! ($6.95)

Getting a little personal here, but I feel the best way to explain these products is to share with you
how I deal with my own monthlies!

Over the years my period has ranged from heavy to light to pretty much not having it at all for
about three years whilst I had my two babies if you count nine months for each and then another
when my body was finding it's feet and getting back to 'normal'.

These days the first 2-3 days are about a moderate flow and I found this particular size pad to do
the job best for me to see me through the nights. In general I prefer pads with wings
for that bit of extra protection and security. These were great at preventing any leaks and
they stuck in place really well. The pad itself was also very absorbent.

x24 Ultra Thin Panty Liners! ($6.95)

I am not one of those people who feel the need to wear some kind of protection down there every
single day in between my period. Unless it's a super hot humid day or if I was going to sweat it out
in the gym (which let's face it I just don't do!) then I would wear a liner to keep me feeling dry.

However I generally find myself using liners on the last few days of my period when my flow
slows down and this is all I need. These liners are nice and thin and you can hardly feel they're
there. They are so comfortable and also absorb well. Again like the regular pads the sticky side
ensures they stay in place for as long as you need without moving around which could lead to
complete embarrassment and disaster!

x16 Organyc Regular Tampons! ($6.95)

As these are the lightest flow size available (also abavilable in super & super plus!) these suited me perfectly.
They are designed and open the same way you would use any other kind of tampon and
the cotton felt soft, gentle and comfortable to insert, remove and wear.

The little info booklet also provides you more info and how-to pictures if you're a beginner with these
things, which is perfect for younger girls who might be unsure. I know it took me a few years to get
the hang of it so I totally get it!!

If you're interested to give Organyc a go now that you are more aware of the benefits and how
much kinder these are to your body and environment the whole range is available to purchase
online directly from their website or click here to find a stockist near you!
