AUGUST FAVOURITES

~ AUGUST FAVOURITES! ~

DOVE Go Fresh Nourishing Body Wash
(Cucumber & Green Tea!)
This body wash feels so relaxing at the end of a long day as well as doing wonders
to wake me up first thing in the morning! Loving the scent of this Dove range, which
is why it's a big fav of mine this past month! My daughter even uses it in the bath! :)

TRESEMME' Platinum Strength Stay Soft Leave In Treatment
I've been using this almost every single day before styling my hair in the morning.
It's the perfect, easy to use product for me because I don't have to think too much about
how to use it. Wet or dry hair, it doesn't matter, just work it through to repair up to 2 years
damage to your hair! Makes my hair feel super soft and generally just looks a whole lot healthier!

TRILOGY Very Gentle Moisturising Cream
I recently dug this sort of old product out of one of the never ending beauty draws which resides
in my bathroom. ;) Don't we all have at least one?
Anyway, another super easy to product to use either day and/or night.
Feels very soothing and leaves skin super soft.
Contains natural spring water, chamomile and calendula!

SKIN DOCTORS Cosmeceuticals Younger Hands
After more months than I like to admit, I've begun using hand cream again.
My hands are probably the most aged part of my whole body. :(
This promises to help your hands look 10 years younger in just 6 weeks!
I think it's been doing a pretty good job thus far.
I use this at night just before bed.

FACE OF AUSTRALIA Mineral Therapy Illuminator
(In Angel Flame!)
I've never used Illuminators very much, but having discovered a few of them lately,
I can no longer ignore them because they are just too pretty!
I am a sucker for shiny, glittery and sparkly anything, and so this one is no exception!
Creates a stunning, illuminous, subtle glow!

MAYBELLINE Dream Pure BB 8-in-1 BB Cream
(In Light!)
On days when just at home and with no plans to go out or see anybody, I usually just slap
on some BB cream instead of applying a full face of foundation because it's just quicker
and get's the job done in livening my face up and hiding any imperfections just in case there's
a knock at the door, or I have to go out quickly for some reason.
I am particularly fond of this BB cream because the colour just seems to look seamless on my skin.
It neither looks cakey, oily or dry on my skin. It just looks exactly like my skin, only perfected!

I won't give too much away about this product just yet as I'm currently still in the middle of
trialling this, but obviously I'm loving it or it wouldn't be here included in my favs!
There seems to be rush of 'Blur' kind of products on the market at the moment and it seems
like most brands are getting in on the act, releasing their own version claiming to be the best.
This one has me flawed! Even on days when I've had barely any sleep and am stressed to the max,
this does absolute wonders! I've never tried anything like it! Amaze!!

SUKIN Facial Treatment Oil
If you've used Sukin before, then you know how gorgeous their products are!
I can't stop using this treatment oil on my skin, it's sooo nice! I originally started using it on my face
to help with the slight acne scaring on my cheeks, and now I'm using a little bit of it on my
pregnancy stretch marks and it's really toning down the scaring.
Full of vitamin and antioxidants as well as fatty acids.

ARBONNE Lipstick
(In Candy Friandise!)
I know I have included this in a favourites post before and here it is again!
I've found myself reaching for this lipstick the most this past month.
It's the most wearable, natural shade. It just adds the perfect amount of natural pink to your
lips to make them look like they're just naturally that perfect shade!
Love the way it feels on my lips, moisturising, smooth and barely noticeable.

Love Candy!

EMPTIES

~ August Empties! ~

What!? It's the end of August??
Somebody pinch me because I must be dreaming!
How can it feel like only yesterday I began this blog in January,
celebrated my 30th birthday & now I need to kick my butt into gear
& figure what on earth I'm going to do for my son's first birthday next month!
This year has whizzed by in what feels like 5 minutes!

In working through my abundance of endless crap which I love,
I've been sticking to my no spending rule as I continue the sloooow

MOISTURISERS

~ Moisturisers ~

I have a problem...!!!

So if you've been regularly reading my blog from the beginning you know that
I am trying to de-clutter my home. We have two little ones to make space for in
our little rented unit. So today was another look into my beauty cupboard to
see what I could either use up, toss, sell or giveaway.

This is when it dawned on me... I have more moisturisers, body lotions, shimmers
& creams than I'll probably ever use! O_o

I'll admit, I knew I had quite a few and I swear I've been really good at lathering up
after I shower every single day, but upon actually digging them all out today it shocked me at how

ILLUMINATOR

~ Face Of Australia ~

Mineral Therapy
Illuminator
in
Angel Flame!

Who doesn't just love illuminators!?
They have got to be one of the prettiest makeup products out there!
This one is no exception.

First of all I think the name of this particular
shade, 'Angel Flame' fits it perfectly. If close my eyes and imagine what an
Angel's flame might look like, this would be the colour. A beautiful almost
rose gold, shimmery formulation that adds the perfect highlighting
effect to your cheekbones.

Personally I think illuminators if applied
carefully and sparingly can be used as a bit of an all rounder.
This is especially handy if this is all you happen to have on you in an
emergency. Let me explain...

Most of us know that certain lip sticks and perhaps a certain type of gloss
or balm does a great job at being versatile in that we can get away with using
them for not only our lips, but as a blush or on our cheeks or cheekbones too.
So why not use an Illuminator on our eyes, waterline and lips?

Bare with me when I make this suggestion, I mean use it like you would
normally. Illuminators go a long, long way! You only need the tiniest bit of
product to get the job done, or you risk looking like a full on decked out
Christmas tree!

Let me know if you try it, I would love to hear about your experiences!

Do you use certain products for more than they're designed for?

MAYBELLINE

~Maybelline ~

24hr

____________________________________________________________

I don't have any real tattoos, personally I think they really suit and
look awesome on some people, but they just aren't for me.

However, this sort of tattoo, the makeup kind, I am more than happy to
play with and explore! Being able to create different styles, looks & effects
that I can simply wash off if I stuff it up or tire of it, at the end of the day
makes me much more comfortable with exploring brave colours!

Today I share with you two bold, vibrant shades from my collection.

Pomegranate Punk
I would describe this shade as maroon with tiny shimmer throughout.
Much the same formula to the NYX eyeshadow base in Pearl which I love
and use almost everyday! I am not shy when it comes to shimmer and being a
bit bold with makeup. I love to experiment with colours and textures!
What I love about these Color Tattoos is that they are buildable.
You don't necessarily have to wear them as boldly as they appear in their pots!
You can use them as a base to really make your powder shadow pop,
or wear them in their own right, allowing them to shine!

Fierce & Tangy
This colour is much more daring but works surprisingly well when
applied sparingly and blended with slightly darker and warmer shades.
I like to use this mostly as a base in the inner half of my lid which opens and
brightens up the eye area. Then completing the look with say the Pomegranate
Punk as the base for the outer half of the lid with a slightly lighter,
(or darker depending on the time of day and occasion!) similar shade
over the top and then blending the two together. I love these shades because they
work nicely together, perfect for all seasons but especially for Autumn/Fall.

What shades do you recommend work well blended together?

SUKIN

~ SUKIN ~

AUSTRALIAN NATURAL SKINCARE

I have been in a bit of a skincare rut lately.
Not really using anything specifically special for my skin or paying all that much
attention. I've kind of just been on auto pilot, just using up the random skincare
products in my bathroom before letting myself go out and splurg on anything else.
Luckily my skin has been well behaved during this time and I've been pretty
content with plodding along slowly using up each product which seems to take
FOREVERRRR. ....!!!

So when an opportunity came along to try out a brand new skincare routine
tailored specifically just for my skin, (which is normal, how boring i know!)
what beauty addict could resist!?

Thanks to RESCU, I was able to give this Australian brand a go and see
just what my skin thought about it.

Below I share my thoughts on each product...

Sulphate & Paraben Free
This cleanser feels mild and gentle on my skin.
If foams up slightly, but isn't overly bubbly.
I have really been enjoying using this in my new skincare routine
as it works well for my skin type. It doesn't dry my skin out, yet
I can still feel the difference after cleansing as my skin feels refreshed
and free of excess oil, makeup and grime from a long day.

Alcohol & Paraben Free
I've not had a lot of experience with mist toners before.
I usually use the ones you swipe over your face with a cotton ball,
which I really enjoy using as they do a great job at catching any excess
makeup, oil or grime. This one works a little different not only because this is
obviously a spray, but because this works to hydrate your skin anytime of the day!
It feels unbelievably soothing and refreshing especially first thing
in the morning when your face is still struggling to wake up!
You can use it on both naked skin or over your makeup. Pretty clever!
I look forward to using this when it warms up in the summer months for a
cooling refreshment and pick me up.

Paraben Free
You can really notice the difference between when you use a regular
moisturiser as opposed to when you use a more natural product.
The scent is simply gorgeous and doesn't overwhelm your senses with an
OTT perfumed fragrance. It reminds me very much like a facial cream that gets
put on you at a spa. So relaxing!

Preservative Free
Treatment oils are pretty new to me. I've used a few different kinds of serums and
I kind of feel like they work in a similar way.
The oil works to repair and soften the skin. It doesn't feel greasy even though
it's a oil, which is surprising. It is meant to help fight the signs of ageing which I'm
all for! I am at the age where my skin isn't as forgiving as it used to be.
So I have been having fun using this in hopes that it slows down the ageing process
somewhat, and so far it just feels beautiful so I'm a happy chappy! :)

Purifying Facial Masque
Paraben Free
It's not often get the time to indulge in a deep cleansing mask to treat my skin,
so needless to say, I really enjoyed these! :)
The scent was a bit different to the other products, but was still nice and didn't
overtake the whole experience by being overpowering or unpleasant.
What I found different about this mask was that after 10-15 minutes it didn't
start to crack, flake or tighten my skin. Honestly, I don't mind masks which do this,
but this was a nice difference as it made it easier to remove as I didn't have to
be as rough to remove it. It wiped gently away with just a warm wash cloth
leaving my skin looking brand new and completely renewed without that
awful squeaky sensation. Super nice product, one of the best I've ever tried.
Am looking forward to this experience again as soon as I can!! ;)

SKIN DOCTORS

~ SKIN DOCTORS ~

COSMECEUTICALS

.....Younger Hands.....

Ok, I admit it, I am guilty as charged for not applying hand cream as often as I
should. Being a self confessed 'beauty guru' I feel some what a bit bad about that.
I am actually really really good at keeping my face, hair, feet and the rest of my body
moisturised on a daily basis, yet somehow my hands have been forgotten.
I think this is because our hands are the most used part of our bodies and when
a hand cream doesn't absorb right away, it can be a pain to try and continue on
with your day. I used to keep some hand cream on my bedside table before I
became a parent and just applied it before I went to sleep. However, now
I'm up during the night with the two of them, so it just doesn't happen.

Thanks to one of my favourite beauty websites Beauty & Lace, I have
recently had the opportunity to partake in a hand cream trial.
So now I have been forced back into the habit. Thank you!

The hand cream is a beautiful, creamy, off white, slightly tan texture with a slight
fragrance that lingers. It has only been a few weeks so far into this
6 week trial and already I have noticed my hands appearing smoother
with less lines and wrinkles and they also feel softer and less dry in this
cool weather. It absorbs into my skin really well. A lot of hand creams I've
tried before absorb well into the top of the hands, yet just slip and
slide around on the palms. However, this hand cream soaks in on both sides!
I've noticed my cuticles are much softer and easier to manage now too.

I love the sophisticated, clean, white packaging which makes me feel all
grown up and responsible - but not old! ;)

Great for those who want to reduce the appearance of freckles &
age spots too!

Retails for $34.95 (75ml)
Check it out and purchase online here!

SCUNCI

~ New Scunci Goodies! ~

Everyday & Active 6 Pack Knotted Ponytailers

I love this bright, fun array of happy colours!
I have used this style of hair tie before and at first was skeptical if they'd
even hold my hair up, but they're actually really flexible and super strong!
I love that these are gentle on your hair and so comfortable to wear.

Everyday & Active No Damage Reflective Hair Ties

These are the perfect combination because not only do you get a generous
32 hair ties (because we all know they try to be like bobby pins & disappear!)
but they are also snag and damage free with no annoying metals in them.
I like them because they are thick so they don't stretch or snap like thinner
elastics always do, especially with thick hair, these are so strong and hold
my hair firmly in place all day. What's different about this cool new active
range are the light reflecting patterns which are the white bits in the hair tie
shown above. They look like the reflects on a bike light or guide post you see
along a road. Very cool especially worn in the sun or at night!

Expandable & No Slip Grip Headbands

I am so excited to wear these as I don't have a lot of brown or black hair
accessories.  I particularly am interested in the expandable
leopard print ones as the design of them is quite unique.
They can even fold up to fit into your pocket! Perfect for travelling
and hair emergencies!

Conair Fog Free Shower Mirror

I have never had a mirror in the shower before, so this will be interesting!
I'm not sure what I'll use it for... perhaps to apply a face mask or make sure I don't
miss a spot when washing my face or hair? I'm sure it will come in handy
none the less! It is fog free, so that is brilliant. It also has 3 strong, large
suction cups to firmly secure it in place. I think the handy little soap/razor
holder at the bottom is a clever little extra. :)

Watch for future hair styles and reviews with all of the above!

:)

What kinds of hair accessories do you like to wear?
Do you a shower mirror? If so, what do you use it for?
