DINING ROOM UPDATE

~ DINING ROOM ~

UPDATED

Hauled from IKEA!

Like a breath of fresh air, I instantly feel both energised and calm
at the same time when something in my home is updated.
It makes me so happy to be rid of my old, outdated and totally just not me
decor and in with a brand new style that lifts my mood whenever I see it.

This is the Glivarp table and Henriksdal chairs with washable covers (perfect with grubby
young kids around!) match perfectly with the rest of my updated decor.
The chair covers are an exact match to our new couch so that was a lucky
find and I am beyond stoked about that!

As you can see we only have 3 chairs which looks a bit odd.
Unfortunately there were only 3 left in stock so we have to go back
sometime in the coming weeks to pick up the fourth chair.

The table has a clear top which extends and will eventually match the coffee
table I have my eye on which is basically identical, only coffee table size! :)
The chrome/mirrored frame tie in with the bedsides and vanity in our
bedroom and the Morum rug just makes it all look a bit more cozy and elegant,
instead of just having the white tiles completely exposed underneath
and around the dining area.

My vase (purchased from Target) is not new, but I think it looks perfect in the space.
The placemat it sits on I purchased in a previous haul.
I'd like to add some nice placemats for each setting and perhaps a table runner
to help keep the table from getting scratches etc.
But for now I am in love and very happy!

Flowers courtesy of my beautiful husband who has been so kind
spoiling me lately as we've all been quite sick lately.
(Hence why I am a bit behind in my posts, so sorry!)

COLLECTIVE HAUL

~ COLLECTIVE HAUL ~

Home & Kids!

Masters
Even though we live in QLD, the winter chill has been solidly felt here at our house!
Early in the morning and late at night are the coldest and especially just jumping out
of a steaming hot shower into the cold air is torture! So we caved and bought a new
heater! At the moment this is helping keep the lounge room where we spend the most
of our time nice and toasty!

This will be used over the top of the black paint we also got mixed
for us to not only protect the paint job and prolong it's life.
This coat will give my DIY's shine especially with the
to give a beautiful, subtle glittered texture and finish. I am so excited to do this!
(Bookshelf/Shoe Rack & Computer Desk! - I will definitely be sharing this project
with you as it happens so make sure you're following so you don't miss it!)

Bunnings
Even though we're renters, we have always spent most of our weekends out in the garden
doing not only general upkeeping but also changing things around and making it look as
beautiful as possible. About a year after we moved here we actually got married in our backyard
after I was super lucky and won a $1000 gift card from Bunnings which really helped to make
everything look pretty. Unfortunately after the wedding was over the grass had certainly seen
better days and ever since then it has been a never ending battle of getting the grass to grow back
properly. Recently, we heard a friend of ours was keeping an eye on his mates place while he was
away and when his mate returned he told him he'd watered his garden and grass while he was away
for him. Little did he know he actually has ASTROTURF!!! hahaha! Must've looked pretty real!
Which got the husband and I thinking wouldn't that just make life so much more easier and be great
for the kids to play on! Luckily we don't have a huge amount of area to turf because Astroturf is mega
expensive, so we're currently keeping our eyes pealed for a good deal.

So what did we actually buy from Bunning this time?
My husband actually came home one night and surprised me with these gorgeous new
Arlec Lustrous 31cm Mosaic Solar Garden Path Lights ! They come in a 4 pack for $29.90,
so he got two packs to help cover the yard. They look so amazing and are completely my taste!
They look gorgeous at night!

Ikea
If you've ever been to Ikea, then you know it's a crazy maze of endless eye candy
which makes it impossible to leave without having seen something you just have to have!
Recently I spotted this Pink Mala Easel $29.99 on displaywhich comes in both pink or blue
(I have no idea why the website is only showing plain wood)
and couldn't resist spoiling my daughter with it!
It has a chalkboard on one side and whiteboard on the other!
She loves to draw and before this she would either just draw with chalk either on our garage floor or
on the pavers out the back. Now she has her own special easel where she can be creative inside too.

What's on your shopping list at the moment?

IKEA HAUL

~ IKEA HAUL ~

Home Decor

Lounge Room Update!

Ofelia Blanket White
$29.99
This beautiful throw caught both mind and my husband's eye at exactly the same time!
Boy and I glad he has good taste! Well, at least if I like it, he usually does too.
I actually had my eye on this the last time we browsed Ikea. I just didn't think we had
anywhere to put it. As you'll find out by the end of this post, it now has it's own pride of place!

Hampen Rug Black
$49.99
Deciding on a new rug wasn't easy. We both knew a white, fluffy, shaggy style rug would
look amazing, but we both also knew it would never stay looking nice and white.
Not with young kids and a black cat anyway! So that dream will have to wait.
We already had this same rug in green, but with me wanting to steer away from bright
colours, we decided black would probably work best for us and for the price I
figured if it doesn't work in the lounge room at least we haven't spend hundreds and thousands
on it and it can always go in the bedroom where the colour scheme is pretty much focused on
black and white. Luckily, I think it worked out ok in the lounge.

Krakris Throw White/Grey
$1.99
I spotted this as we were lining up at the checkout and thought it was not only
an amazing bargain, but could possibly also look pretty good as a throw on the couch.
So for only two bucks, it's not a big risk to take just to see. I think it ended up working out
pretty well and with the weather getting colder, having a few throws on the couch is a pretty
good idea!

Friheten Corner Sofa-Bed Skiftebo Dark Grey
$699.00
Ever since my husband, as good as his intentions were, came home one day with
an old, worn, dark bottle green leather couch, I have secretly been dying to get rid of it
and get something like the one below. On Saturday, my dream came true! :)
This rather large purchase was not planned. We were simply just getting out of the house
for the day and were going to just browse the shops when we mistakenly somehow wound up
at Ikea. We should have known this would be a dangerous choice of location to 'browse' but hey
he was driving, not me! ;) None-the-less, we first spotted a pretty decent looking two seater, simple
looking couch for $99 and were just going to get that as we live in a fairly small unit and don't
have a lot of room and getting rid of our current generous two seater plus the two matching massive
recliners and replacing then with this would have worked out well and given us a lot of space back.
BUT, then we kept on walking didn't we! Well, really what choice do you have in Ikea but to keep
on following those little arrows on the floor. Then we spotted the one we ended up purchasing below.
Is also comes in a tan and a hot pink which we almost got, but I really wanted to steer away from
bright colours and focus more on neutral tones. So we both agreed this would be perfect.
It also pulls out into a sofa bed which is what we've always wanted because we regularly
have the in-laws visiting and it would be nice for them to have this bed to sleep in rather than having
to hike up all the stairs and stay in my daughters double and having her bunk in with us for the
night. It also holds storage space underneath, bonus!

Eivor Ord Double Quilt Cover & 4 Pillowcases in Black/White
$24.99
As soon as we passed this bedding on display my daughter instantly raced up to it and yelled
"Mummy, Daddy! Look! Look! ABC bed! .... so she gets up onto it and says with the sweetest,
most innocent smile, "I like ABC bed." :) Obviously we both couldn't resist and this is now
covering her bed and I must say looks much nicer than I originally thought.

Lounge Roon Update!
(Sneak Peak!)

I'd like to build it up a bit with a few more cushions.
I have my eye on some already as I'm working on a lust list, I
might post later this week.

What's your decor style?
