BEAUTY BLENDER

~ M E C C A  M A X I M A ~

Kit Cosmetics
Beauty Blender!

For the longest time I have probably been committing one of the worst beauty no-no's like ever!
Applying my foundation with my fingers! I know, I know! Even with clean hands I am probably
still spreading a bucket load of bacteria and germs all over my face not to mention trying to
blend out the liquid to an even, flawless finish just doesn't happen using this method.

I have a foundation brush, but it's cheap, nasty and after attempting to use it once, it failed
miserably, shedding hairs sticking to my face and it felt rough and spiky! >_<
So I gave up and have continued to use my fingers ever since. I just haven't gotten around
to finding that perfect brush set. I've heard everyone talk about how super amazing Real Techniques
sets are and they are currently on the verge of popping into my online shopping cart.

In the meantime when I popped into the brand new Mecca Maxima store at my local
shopping centre recently a blindingly hot pink Beauty Blender Sphere immediately caught my eye,
and for $14.95 I thought what the hell, I'm getting this!!

It seems applying and blending out foundation to the skin with a sponge is the thing to do at the
moment. I've seen a vast array of pretty bright colours available and just about every since
beauty blogger, youtuber and magazine beauty article mentioning them. So I figured it worth
trying out and getting a brush later.

Plus how nice of Mecca to wrap everything in pretty baby pink tissue paper!
Love it!

So the verdict? I broke this baby out of it's confinement the day I bought it home and haven't
looked back. I've been using it every time I apply my foundation now. (No more grubby mits!)
And I love it!! It feels sooo soft and nice on my skin and is the easiest thing to use in the world!
It blends out my foundation without leaving any trace, lines or weird shapes. The slightly rounded
tips at each end also make it perfect to blend out more difficult areas like the corners of the nose
and under the eyes. I highly recommend getting one and giving it a go if you haven't already!

What's your foundation application technique?
What applicator tools do you recommend?

  2. I recently grabbed the Mecca one but haven't had a chance to try it yet, every morning I look at it and think 'ugh, I need to photograph it while it's still pristine first!'

Also using your fingers to apply foundation is perfectly ok! Especially when your hands are clean and if you use a hand sanitiser just before it's even better. Any hand application issues that you experience are usually related to the formula and not the person, some foundations just don't play well with hands :(

    1. Ah I know what you mean about not using a product or item because you want to photograph it before you mess it up first. I think exactly the same way and am constantly putting stuff aside until I have photographed it and then im like right, time to play with you!!! :D - Thanks for the info about the foundation application too. That's really interesting! Using my hands is so easy, but I really love using this b blender now so I don't know if ill go back to hands again.... probably! haha!

    1. Oh really, why is that? It took me a while, but then being a SAHM I don't get out of the house all that often! So sad, but true! >_<
