MY BEAUTY SECRETS

My Top 5 Beauty SECRETS!

Sssshhhhh LOUDLY!

ONE! - Soak in Epson Salt!
Epson salts are sold by many brands these days and can still be purchased very cheaply from your
local supermarket or chemist. Epson salts are magnesium sulfate which looks just like large rock
salt you buy for cooking. However this powerful stuff when mixed with your warm bath water will
help draw out the toxins built up inside your body, relaxes your muscles and as it soaks into our skin
also produces more of our energy cells. This is also a winner to relieve cramping during that time of
the month!

Soaking your feet in a nice warm epsom salt bath is also a great way to relax tired and tense feet
which have been holding up your weight all day long or if they have been in high heels. The salts
are great for scrubbing away all that dry tough skin as well as reducing foul foot odour!
Bathefex Products available now from Priceline stores & Chemcorp online!

TWO! - Drench yourself in Bio Oil!
Bio Oil has got to be one of the best staple items you can own in my opinion. Like Epson Salts it has
so many benefits primarily to the skin which can't be ignored. With powerful and natural ingredients
including - Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Rosemary Oil, Lavender Oil, Chamomile Oil, Calendula Oil and
the more powerful of all PurCellin which work together as a powerful combination which helps with
uneven skin tone, stretch marks, scaring, anti-ageing and moisturising.

My skin needs help with all of these things about once a week I will give my daily moisturising after
showing from head to toe a miss and instead I will lather up generously in Bio Oil! I honestly believe
it works as I am often being told I look much younger than I actually am!
Bio Oil available to purchase online & in store at most chemists, supermarkets & major retailers.

THREE! - Scrub Often!
I love the feeling of scrubbing away the stress of the day in the shower each night. It feels so good
and it is so good for you by not only letting your skin make way for new skin cells underneath
giving you a renewed, youthful glow. The scrubbing is also a great way to promote circulation around
your body by getting the blood flowing from all of the scrubbing. For me this is a great way of also
waking myself up in the morning especially with a good facial exfoliator.

Not to mention dry body brushing is also great for circulation and reducing the appearance
of cellulite by breaking down the larger fatty cells into smaller ones making them less noticeable.

I remember reading years ago Cindy Crawford massages coffee beans into her thighs to reduce
cellulite. Seems to work for her!
FOUR! - Sunscreen!
I don't think many people really regard sunscreen as being much of a beauty product, however in my
experience it is one of the most powerful beauty products you can own!

Protecting your skin from the sun is serious. We should all know by now how dangerous sun baking
and staying out too long in the sun can be especially without any kind of protection. Not only should
you be wanting to protect your skin from pre-mature ageing and painful sunburn. You should be slip
slop slapping to save your life from some very lethal and scarily common skin cancers.

There really is no excuse these days with so many great brands creating different kinds of SPF.
Don't like the greasy feel or the classic sunscreen scent? No problem! There are plenty of products
available these days which know these consumer pet hates and have catered their products
accordingly.
Great daily sunscreens for the whole family used regularly in my house include - Banana Boat Ultra 30+ / Neutrogena Beach
Defence / Neutrogena Wet Skin

FIVE! - Hydration Gives Life!
When it comes to appearing youthful and as good as you can for your age. I have found water and
keeping my body hydrated to play a gigantic part in this process. I am of course guilty of not always
drinking enough water each day and over the years I have learned to really notice and see the
difference this makes to how my skin appears. When I don't drink enough water my body is has
less energy, I can't think as sharp, my skin is dry and my face looks puffy, tired and old!

With water making up on average 70% of our whole bodies is makes perfect sense to keep those
levels topped up for us to stay on top of health at all times. Whilst water does the majority of the
work, some moisturising beauty products also play a key part in keeping the outside of our bodies
looking youthful. In the long run hydrated skin is healthy skin which will hold it's elasticity and
strength longer as we age which is prevalent to preventing our ageing skin from being prone to
breaking open and bleeding easily from a simple bump or graze as I have seen in some of my close
loved ones as young as their mid 50's!
My stash of moisturisers are the largest of all my beauty products! These are just some of my current most used ranging from facial, hair, skin and hands - Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron / Avene Tolerance / Weleda Evening Primrose Hand
Cream / Oblepikha Siberica Hair Repair Oil / Dirty Works Coconut Body Butter

I would LOVE to hear your beauty secrets if you have any to share!

Let's follow each other!

NATURAL SKINCARE

~  HARVEST GARDEN  ~
Pamper & Indulge
A Look At Natural Skincare!

Coconut Body Polish 150gm
I am so good when it comes to completely cleansing my body head to toe each day in the shower,
however honestly I don't often use a body polish or scrub as I just own a bundle more cleansers and
so that is what I reach for most often. In saying that I do notice the build up of dead and hardened
skin when I leave it go too long and my skin can begin to appear dull and less than smooth.

This Coconut Body Polish smells EXACTLY like a day spa! All natural and super relaxing!
Contains - Epsom Salt, Virgin Coconut Oil, Australian Pink Clay, Dried Rose Buds, Dried
Calendula Flowers, Sweet Orange Essential Oil & Rose Geranium Essential Oil.

How cute and handy is the little scoop in the jar?! I have been using between 3-5 scoops per shower
depending on how much I feel I need that day. This leaves your skin smelling gorgeous and I love
the soft feeling from the moisturising coconut oil and smoothness from the other ingredients blended
together. I don't even have to bother moisturising afterwards as it has all been taken care of in this
polish, clever little guy!

Harvest Garden Coconut Body Polish - RRP: $15.00AU (Shop!)

Gentle Facial Scrub 70gm
I love facial scrubs and always notice a significant difference every time I use one! Somehow I find
my skin tends to build up more on my face than on my body, that I notice anyway! So regular facial
scrubbing is a must for me otherwise the surface of my skin becomes rough, super dull and tends to
break out more frequently with blackheads being more noticeable than usual. Ew!

What I like most about this all natural, all Aussie made Gentle Facial Scrub is it's unique dry blend of
ingredients. These include - Powdered Goats Milk, Ground Oatmeal, Sodium Bicarbonate, Ground
Calendula Petals, Folic Acid & Olive Leaf Extract.

So you may be wondering how to use a dry facial scrub as opposed to a wet one? Well it's actually
really simple and you can even mix in pretty much any wet mix you like to suit you own personal
flavour. Harvest Garden recommends using water, honey, floral water or apple cider vinegar. I
personally find just using water to be the most convenient, however I have also tried using Manuka
Honey which is nice and thick and makes it really easy to apply.

I also have tons of Aloe vera growing in my back yard which I haven't tried mixing in with this yet,
however I am thinking about it as I figure it would feel quite soothing and add to the lovely natural
scent!

Harvest Garden Gentle Facial Polish - RRP: $15.00AU (Shop!)

Intensive Facial Cream 60gm
This Intensive Facial Cream can be used both day and night, however as it is rich in intensive hard
working skin loving ingredients it is recommended to use more as a night cream for best results as
our skin works it's hardest healing the skin and regenerating new cells as we sleep.

This smooth light, whipped, creamy blend smells divine and is a dream on the skin with ingredients
including - Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Vitamin E, Green Tea Extract, Lavender Essential Oil, Rose
Geranium Essential Oil & Patchouli Essential Oils.

Like many other Harvest Garden products you will find your own little scoop inside to use to scoop
out your product to minimise contamination and prolong the life of the product.

With the weather being so hot lately (I am sure many of you can relate!) sometimes Harvest Garden
products can melt a little as they aren't bound together nor contain with any toxic chemicals, synthetic
fragrances, artificial colours, parabens or palm oil. However popping then into the fridge will quickly
being then back up to a less runny consistency. :)

Harvest Garden Intensive Facial Cream - RRP: $20.00AU (Shop!)

Herbal Balm 110gm
This Herbal Balm is one of those clever little must have multi-use products which come in handy for
the whole family for different reasons and you find yourself thanking your lucky stars you own it at
times when you need it the most.

With a solid melt in your hands creamy natural oil based consistency this balm does a whole
multitude of things including healing the skin from nappy rash, minor burns, scabs, dry skin, minor
cuts and grazes as well as dry chapped lips!

Ingredients include a blend of all 100% natural Australian Virgin Coconut Oil, Calendula Infused
Olive Oil, Calendula Infused Sweet Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Beeswax and
Vitamin E.

I have been using this mainly as a dry skin and chapped lips moisturiser and even used it on my son's
cheeky little butt-butt with no irritation or flare ups. This stuff is so gentle to even baby's skin!
I have found this to also deeply moisturise the dry brittle ends of my hair, so really you can go to
town experimenting with what works for you with this multi-use product. I highly recommend
having a jar in the house. I keep mine in the fridge as it gives an ultra cooling effect to the skin this
way and feels super refreshing on hot days like the ones we've been having lately!

TANNING ROUTINE

~ Tanning Through The Seasons ~

My DIY Self Tanning Routine!

Transitioning From Summer Through Winter!

Self tanning can be a tricky thing. A skill many of us let a professional take control of
for us. There are so many things that can go wrong. Too light, too dark, too orange, streaky,
un-even, leaving marks all over your car seats, coach, bed sheets, etc and that off putting fake
tan smell. The whole point of a fake tan, is to get that golden looking glow without risking your
health by going the natural or solarium route. At the end of the day, we all want our tan to look
natural and flawless.

However, DIY-ing isn't as hard or scary as it sounds. It's just like experimenting with makeup
and figuring out what works, what doesn't and making mistakes and learning from them.

Using good quality products definitiely helps, and with the right tools and techniques you can
have north coast, holiday, 'I've just spend my whole life at the beach' looking skin in no time
and for a fraction of the salon price!

It's really easy once you get the hang of it and once it becomes routine you will wonder why you
ever got almost naked for a complete stranger in an awkward paper G-string in the first place!

Below I will share with you the products currently in my self tanning routine I am using
to get flawless, glowing, tanned skin year round with some hints and tips along the way!

Schick
Intuition Pure Nourishment Razor
For All Skin Types!
RRP: $12.69
Review (Buy!)
I feel like this first step goes pretty much without me having to say it.
If you don't wax, then shave your legs before you tan! If you wait until afterwards, you'll
ruin all of your hard work and shave the tan away... Nobody wants to see hairy legs, so if
you're going to flaunt it, make it count!
-------------------------------------------------

St.Tropez
Body Polish
For All Skin Types!
RRP: $19.95
Review (Buy!)
There is nothing more I love than a good all over body scrub and this one is particually
suited to help maintain and prep your skin for tanning. The circular beads are not to harsh
or scratchy and therefore making sure your tan applies and eventually fades away
smooth and even.
-------------------------------------------------

Jergens
Daily Moisture
For Dry Skin!
RRP: $5.99
Review (Buy!)
I feel like this is a step a lot of people skip when self tanning. Moisturising is so
important for our skin, not only to keep it looking fresh, soft and youthful. It also provies
a smooth and even base for your tan to stick to, giving you the most flawless, streak free
glow you absolutely want!
-------------------------------------------------

Paula's Choice
Sun 365 Self-Tanning Foam
For All Skin Types!
RRP: $16.80
(Buy!)
My current self tanner of choice is this one by Paula's Choice, for a number of reasons.
The main reason is because it is buildable and creates the most natural results!
Just one application gives you a subtle glow. Apply 5-10 and your a super bronzed,
sun kissed looking goddess! Not dodgy tanning smell as it is scent free.
No messy tanning stains all over my bathroom as the formula simply pumps out into my
hand light as a feather for controlled application.

LUSH HAUL

~ L U S H   H A U L ~

So White & Snow Fairy Shower Gels
RRP: $16.95  (250g each)
So I'll begin with Snow Fairy which I have been wanting even since it came out last year!
(Bit slow to jump on the band wagon aren't I?!) It perfectly matches my fairy obsession so I knew
I just had to have it! And then I went into Lush and smelt it..... it isn't exactly my cup of tea.
I mean I am usually the first one there when something smells sickly sweet, I love that, but this
takes the cake to the extreme, meaning it is sickly sweet and then some!! It is a bit OTT, buuut
I still couldn't help myself because they have marketed it too well. It looks adorable and contains
shimmer in it, plus it's pink! I figure if I use it sparingly I shouldn't gag or vomit in the shower.

As for So White, ahh now this, THIS is what I'm talking about! Again shimmer, because it is
Christmas after all and who needs an excuse to look all festive and shiny anyway?! I love shimmer
and the smell of this is a lot kinder to the nose. Apple and rose scented, what a fab combo! Cannot
wait to try this!

Bubblegum Lip Scrub
RRP: $9.95  (25g)
I am sure just about everybody on the planet has tried this and it has been on my wish list for
forever! I used up a sample of this I was lucky enough to score what feels like a billion years ago,
so even since I ran that dry I have had major withdrawals and my lips have been really
 mad at me!

So glad to have a full size jar of this in my life now and if I ever feel the desperate need for a snack
whilst I'm out and about I always have this! (Just kidding...maybe!) ;)

Star Light Star Bright Bath Melt
RRP: $6.95 (40g)
This is seriously too pretty! The amatour photo I have taken doesn't even do it justice!
Only problem is it is a melt and it's so soft and the silver glitter/shimmer just wants to get off onto
everything it touches! Even as I picked this up as lightly and gently as I could with two fingers to
take this picture, my fingers ended up looking like the Tin Man's. >_<

Smells zesty and citrusy and I just love silver, so I cannot wait to use this and turn into a fairy
in my bath tub! Merry Christmas me! Yay! :D

Sunny Side Bubble Bar (100g)
RRP: $8.50 (100g)
Unfortunetly this gold glitter flecks on this bubble bar also glue to your fingers, but OMG,
just look at it! I almost want to eat it is so gorgeous! This is also apparently citrus scented, although
I seem to get a waff of what I think is lavender when I smell it and it doesn't smell anything like
the Star Light Star Bright Melt above.

I am torn between wasting this on one amazing, expansive bath or saving it for envious decor
in my bathroom (or elsewhere somewhere in the house - out of reach from my climbing toddlers!)

Decisions, such touch decisions! I think Santa will just have to bring me a few more back ups so
I don't have to choose! *hint* *hint* Santa, are you reading this? Take note please! ;)

Northern Lights Bath Bomb
RRP: $5.50 (150g)
I first head about this little beauty from watching another beauty guru on YT and thought it was
the most amazing thing in the world so I knew I had to have it! Plus is has stars in it!!!
If you Google this you will see some friggin' beautiful bath tubs with others who have used this!

The two sides at the ends are meant to fizz away first and then the centre slowly dissolves into
a blue and green swirl creating a rainbow of colourful and great smelling fizz to your bath time
experience!

Can't wait!

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub
(Bonus Sample!)
This smells pretty good actually! I love scrubs and the consistency of this seems
pretty good, not too weak. Might get a few uses out of this and I love the blue, nice!

What do you love from Lush?

ST.TROPEZ

Glowing Summer Skin

With St.Tropez!

Bronzing Mousse
RRP: $19.95 (50ml)
My little 50ml travel size can is perfect for someone like me who doesn't tan year round,
but likes to give it a go every now and again, especially if I'm going out somewhere like the
pool or the beach and don't want to look too much like I live in an igloo!

This Bronzing Mousse comes complete with a pump nozzle which dispenses out around about
a fifty cent size amount of dark brown foam onto your skin. It is recommended to apply this with
a tanning mitt, which I do have, but was too lazy to find, so on this occasion I just used my hands
and well, let's just say now I know why you should wear a tanning mitt because this stuff likes to
turn your hands a toasty shade of black!

Not that I particularly care. I just gave my hands a good wash and scrub and now my hands
are almost back to their original pasty white colour. Besides that, when it comes to the application
and overall finished effect this tanning mousse gives, I rate it rather high! I just rubbed it into my
skin in the recommended circular motion and it blended right in and after a few coats gave me a
gorgeous looking, natural bronze glow as shown in the pic below. :)

Body Polish
RRP: $19.95 (200ml)
My smooth, even, streak free glow wouldn't have been quite as perfect looking if it weren't for
my trusty new Summer companion! The St.Tropez Body Polish preps your skin for tanning
by gently exfoliating the skin with tiny little white circular beads which do not scratch your
skin resulting in a nice, even, fresh surface for the tan to stick to so it appears nice and smooth.

In addition this also helps to maintain and prolong your tan by evenly scrubbing it off your
skin every few days. So if you're wanting to build up your tan gradually over a few days or weeks
you can still do that and still have a nice, even surface to apply to each time by using this 24
hours before each tan application. You can even use this on your face to scrub away any dead
skin cells if you like to also tan your face. Just mix a little into a gentle cleanser and use together!

Tip!
Don't forget to moisturise afterwards! This will keep your tan looking fresh and flawless!
Concentrate a little more on the dryer areas of your skin. Knees, elbows, hands and feet
are popular areas for concern. For me, its my back where I tend to get the most dead skin
build up as it's the hardest place to reach when scrubbing!

Is slightly fragranced with a light perfumed scent.

Bonus!
Paraben & Cruelty Free!

JULY FAVOURITES

~ July Favourites ~

Clear Intense Hydration Shampoo & Conditioner
This also featured as a favourite of mine in my June Favourites last month,
and even though I've been juggling a few different shampoos and conditioners
this month, this one still remains a firm fav!

L'Oréal Paris Eyeshadow Palette in Northern Lights
I recently hauled this palette and haven't stopped using it ever since!
The shades are perfect to create a natural everyday look that is buildable
for also going out at night and the shades compliment my features really nicely.

Maybelline NY Superstay Better Skin Foundation in Light Beige
I've been trialing this for Beautyheaven recently and have been enjoying the results.
Goes on very smooth and looks and feels light whilst still providing a decent
amount of coverage.
Stay tuned for a in depth dedicated review coming soon!

Puretopia Bioactive Solutions Gentle Exfoliating Face Scrub
I've only been using this for a short time, but I already feel like this is a
worthy fav! It is definitely one of my more luxurious scrubs. Feels
very pampering and does a brilliant job at gently removing dead skin
build up leaving my skin so smooth and soft!

Maybelline NY Baby Lips in Mango Pie
Another MNY fav would have to be my baby lips, in particular this month
the Mango flavour has taken my fancy most of all. Once you get past the vibrant
and bright coloured packaging which I love, the formula itself is sheer and smells
amazing! I love to apply this throughout the day when I'm home or out and about
with the kids as I'm constantly hugging and kissing them! With this I don't have to
worry about any sticky or coloured lip product transferring onto them.

Organic Care Ginger & Lemongrass Antibacterial Hand Wash
I recently trialed this for Beautyheaven and it has made me realize how much
I enjoy using liquid hand washes as opposed to block soaps.
I especially like the antibacterial aspect of this product as I'm currently
in the middle of toilet training my toddler and needless to say we have been
putting this to very good use!

Scunci Pin Twirls
These are such a versatile hair product and are perfect for holding hair in
place without the need for any elastics or bobby pins.
Check out my tutorial here!

Luminesce Cellular Rejuvenation Serum
Only in the past maybe two years or so have I discovered the power of
facial serums. I only wish I'd known how much of a difference they actually
make to your skin earlier. This one I've been particularly impressed with
lately. I've been using this for quite a few months and the results are evident
in my skins overall appearance.

Skin B5 Skin Purifying Mask
I'd never used a Skin B5 product before I tried this which I received
late last year in my Blogstar prize pack.
As my skin is naturally acne prone, unless I keep it in check with products such as
this, it goes ballistic! If I just want a quick pimple fix, I'll just dab a little bit of
this on the spot and leave it on as long as i can throughout the day or night
and it clears the area right up. It's brilliant!

LOOK YOUNGER! - MY RADIANT SKIN SECRETS

FEATURING...

~ Puretopia Bioactive Solutions ~

Smooth & Renew
Gentle Exfoliating

Face Scrub!

(New Favourite!)

When it comes to my skin, what it likes, doesn't like and how I keep it looking
clear and young, I'll let you in on a few of my beauty secrets.

1. I never sun bake and rarely go out in the sun.
When I do I like to lather up with my favourite sunscreen.

2. I don't smoke, take drugs, party hard or drink ANY alcohol.
(I know it is ok to drink some wines and they can be quite beneficial in moderation,
this is just me and how I like to live my life.)

3. I try to get a good night's sleep every night.
I am still currently breast feeding so this is a bit of a challenge for me at the
moment, but taking a short nap during the day if you can manage it, no
more than half and hour can really give you a energy kick to tackle the rest
of the afternoon & evening if you've had a restless night.

4. Be active!
I am in no way interested in playing sports and going to the gym.
Almost everyone has no time for that these days as we lead such busy lives.
So I just make sure my mind is conscious of being active throughout the day.
I'm a stay at home mum of 2 kids under 5, so needless to say I don't have to think
about keeping active too much.
I've noticed in photos when I'm active my skin glows as opposed to
appearing blotchy, tired and lack lustre when I'm not.
Watch my tips to keep active video here!

5. Consume healthy, natural foods - limit sugar!
I'll be the first to admit I love me a good sugar hit and as tempting as it is,
I never feel as good as I do if I eat for example an orange instead.
Oranges have always, always made me feel almost instantly better if I'm ever
feeling run down or unwell. They're an amazing fruit and give me much more
sustained energy than any chocolate bar or even coffee, which actually has no
effect on me. (As much as I love it anyway!)

6. Change your mind set to limit stress.
This has been one of the biggest lessons I've learned to deal with in my life.
I am still battling with this on a daily basis, but the mind is such an incredible
organ, I feel like us humans could achieve so much more power and control of
our lives if we just took the time to work on figuring out how to tap into it more
and in fact control it. There is room for us to evolve so much more!
It is difficult to explain, but basically the things that used to stress me out the most
I try to deal with it immediately, if I can't control it I find a positive in it and focus on that.
It is incredible how this effects the world around me and changes my life!
Now, I know you might be thinking, what is this idiot on about, there is no
positive in this or that (Whatever it may be that you're facing) situation.
Believe me, I hear you! That is why it is such a huge challenge and a daily
battle to keep under control with your mind.
Anyhow, I could do a whole other blog post on this in more detail.
(If you're interested,  let me know!) :)
So my point?
Living a stress free life, stops you using twice as many
facial muscles in your face by frowning and limits those worry lines
creasing horizontally across your forehead.
Limit the stress, limit the wrinkles!

7. Moisturise, Moisturise! Moisturise!
For me, this means moisturising my whole body from my hair to the soles
of my feet daily!
It is an effort, but a worthwhile one. I have often received compliments
on how soft and smooth my skin feels. So it must work.
I don't necessarily use expensive, high end moisturisers, in my experience
it doesn't make much of a difference. I just use whatever takes my fancy.
I am usually captivated first by packaging, then by smell, texture and then ingredients also take my interest.

8. Scrub a dub dub!
I love it when I have that little bit of extra time in the shower where I can
concentrate on buffing off all those dead skin cells with a good scrub!
I like to do this not only on my face, but my whole body as skin can build up
all over and clog pores if not taken care of. I find my skin radiates and is clearest
when I exfoliate regularly. I can get away with doing it about 3-4 times a week
without causing any irritation, depending on how abrasive the scrub is.
I use the harshest ones I can find on my feet, then basically the further up the body,
the more gentle exfoliaters I like to use.
At the moment I'm loving this Puretopia facial scrub as it gentle enough for me to
use on my face daily. The formula contains fine black and cream silica & limestone particles that leave my skin feeling super smooth and clean and fresh. It smells moisturising and refreshing with tangerine flower and it is 100% sulfate & paraben free! It contains panthenol, aloe, which soothes the skin from the scrub, pro vitamin B5 and glycerin.

Suitable for all skin types!
RRP: $9.95

Thank you for reading!
I hope you got something out of it and are somewhat inspired.
