PLATINUM MAKEUP BRUSHES

INTRODUCING...

NEW!

- PLATINUM MAKEUP BRUSHES -

http://www.platinumbeauty.com.au

So you probably own at least one set of makeup brushes. You have your favourites, you know those
3 or 4 you reach for every single time you put on your makeup? How great are the quality of your
brushes though? Could be better? Softer? Less hairs falling out of them? I know personally for me
that stray hair which falls out of my blush brush every! single! day! I could definitely live without!

Using a fresh, clean, brand new makeup brush is always a nice feeling and if you're after that kind of
satisfaction in your daily makeup routine at the moment, then let me temp you with these modern,
gun metal grey, shiny new, sooooft good quality brushes, available ever so conveniently as you do
you grocery shop at where else but your local Woolies!

There are 5 of these beauties in the Platinum collection and each with it's own essential role to play.
Let me run you through each of the 4 which I have been using in my collection over the past few
months.

Contour Eye Brush
This tapered brush is perfect for creating definition and shadows to your eye's crease. Blend your
shadow into this area and blend with these super smooth, soft hairs. Within a few strokes I have
found my shadow to blend effortlessly, even when I use my cheaper branded makeup!
RRP $10.00

Eye Shadow Brush
Aside from the Blush Brush (which I will talk about soon!) this Eye Shadow Brush is my most used
brush! If your budget is tight, then you could probably get away with skipping on the Contour Eye
Brush and just using this one to complete your all over eye look. I still prefer to use both of these for
creating a more defined eye and precise definition, however this brush with a little practice can do it
all.

The hairs on this brush are slightly shorter and the shape is more rounded. This makes it easy to pack
on your desired shadow shade all over the base of your lid. Then using your Contour Eye Brush (or
this one if you brush off the excess shadow shade before changing colours for contouring) blending in
your usual slightly darker shade into the crease and then highlighting along the brow bone, inner
corner of the eye and where ever else you feel helps you eyes to really pop and look larger and more
awake. RRP $10.00

Base Blending Brush
We all have our own preference when it comes to how we choose to apply foundation. For years I
just found it so much quicker and easier to just use my (clean!) fingers. This method works amazingly
well because there is no chance of leaving behind brush strokes and everything is blended and spread
out well and evenly from the warmth in my fingers. I do still use this method on occasion, however
since discovering the magic of the trusty makeup sponge, I pretty much apply my liquid this way.

So how does this Base Blending Brush come into it? Well generally I will use this brush with my
loose powder to set my liquid foundation as it seems to blend the powder out all over my face instead
of it just sitting where it lands so to speak. However this brush is also designed to use with liquid
foundation to blend everything out nice and smoothly and gives quite a flawless finish in the few
times I have given this method a try. RRP $15.00

Blush Brush
This brush is super light and nicely fluffy and just perfect for applying blush! The hairs on this brush
seem to just pick up the right amount of product to apply to the apples of my cheeks which I then
sweet slightly upwards towards my cheekbones. Then naturally following up with a little bit of
highlight. Everyone loves highlight right now! Including me, obvs! RRP $19.00

The 5th brush in this collection which I haven't yet had the chance to try is the Platinum Power
Brush. As the name suggests, this is to use to apply your powder foundation, setting powder and
banana powder, etc! RRP $20.00

Platinum Makeup Brushes are available exclusively at selected Woolworths stores Australia wide.

How do you apply foundation? Brush, sponge, fingers or another method?

BRUSHOLOGY

~  SCUNCI  ~

Brushology Hair Brushes!

PREPARE

Dry Shampoo Brush $14.95
I only tend to wash my every 2-3 days for two reasons. One - I can get away with it, so why not?
Two - Washing my long, thick hair takes so much time, I just don't have. So in saying that, this
nifty little Dry Shampoo Brush is brilliant as it really helps to blend in all that dry shampoo I tend
to use on a daily basis. All but one of my dry shampoo's that I currently have in rotation come out as
white and powdery which if not worked in well can give my hair a grey tint. Not what you want!

Vent Brush $9.95
I tend to blow dry my hair about once a week or so after washing and this new Vent Brush has been
the perfect companion! Because there are gaps between the bristles it allows the hot hair through the
brush as I am blow drying in turn speeding up my drying time. The end of the bristles are also
ceramic and also get hot and aiding in the lengthy straightening process. I found this so easy to use,
my hair just glided through the brush and my was smooth and ready to tackle with my straightener in
no time!

Wet Hair Detangling Brush $12.95
This giant paddle brush has been cleverly designed with super gentle bristles to limit the damage
when bushing wet hair. I like to first use the Scunci Detangling Comb and follow through using this
one. The large size of the brush makes it very quick to use and I am done in about ten seconds! It
doesn't snag or pull at my hair and I love the way it feels on my scalp.

Detangling Comb $5.95
I believe a wide tooth comb is a must for every girl! I use this both in and out of the shower.
I find using this when using a hair treatment or even just when I condition my hair it helps
distribute the product nice and even whilst making my hair smooth and knot free. I then use it again
once I am out of the shower on my wet hair to make sure my hair is completely tangle free and ready
to style for bed or for the day ahead!

STYLE

Straightening Brush $15.95
This is probably the most unique kind of hair brush I have ever seen or used. You can use it like a
regular hair brush or as it is designed with a double brush head & ceramic coated plates you can use
it whilst both blow drying and straightening to cut down the time it takes for both tasks, especially
if you have long hair or unruly curls! If like me you suffer from the frizz effect, this brush will sort it
all out with it's ionic infused boar bristles.

XLarge Volume Brush $14.95
If volume and large waves are what you're craving then this is the brush of all brushes!
With it's ionic pins and gentle bristles, this brush when used together with your hair dryer
(I recommend checking out my fav - The Pink Evoke VS Sassoon Dryer!) will briskly style your hair
into voluminous Victoria's Secret waves with body and height as it retain the heat in the brush as you
style. Pretty handy!

Medium Volume Brush $12.95
Very similar to the XLarge Volume Brush, this medium size thermal ceramic barrel heats up as you
use your hair dryer giving you nice volume and life to your hair whilst setting it as you go through
each section of hair. This is my go-to for everyday hair as it gives a lovely natural 'just got out of bed
sexy hair' look whist still looking like you have still made some kind of effort by taming any frizz or
fly aways which are my pet hate!

Cushion Brush $12.95
This is the best brush to use the day after washing your hair when your hair is super clean and may
not be playing nice and sitting right. I find this helps styling my hair on those days as it is designed
to bring down some of the natural oils through the hair from the scalp in turn making squeeky clean
hair more manageable. Not recommended on greasy hair unless you want to accentuate that kind of
over all slick back look. Each to their own!

FINISH

Paddle Brush $14.95
For those of you who have long, thick hair like me then this one is for you! Nobody has time to
spend brushing their hair all day (At least no one I know!) and if you want to keep it long then you
still need to find a way to take care of it. This large paddle brush makes life easier by not only being
large enough to get the job done quick. It also has ionic and ceramic coated pins which help tame the
frizz, smooth down the hair and also adds shine which is something I have really noticed a difference
with when using this brush. I like shiny, healthy looking hair!

Long Hair & Hair Extension Brush $14.95
Since using my Irresistible Me hair extensions and finding this brush, I have really enjoyed having a
special brush just to help take better care of my set. Hair extensions are difficult to store without
getting tangled easily and having this brush has been great! Right before I apply each piece I just run
this brush of them and it makes all the difference! Makes them look like new again.

Thick & Wavy Hair Brush $14.95
I guess it really comes down to hair type, style preference and personal taste when it comes to some
of these brushes. There are a few others in this range which do pretty much the same as this one,
however this particular brush has slightly longer bristles which does make it nice and easy when
brushing through thick hair. (Speaking from experience!) :)

Backcombing Brush $7.95
Ever since trying out the Scunci Quiff Comb I have not been the best at back combing to create the
same effect. Having a proper backcombing brush just makes it so much easier and faster to create the
teased effect and I actually found it really easy to brush out once I was done. Backcombing with this
brush didn't create a huge knotted mess as I was able to simply comb through it once I was done with
the style. The hair held really well and parting my hair in difference ways with the tip of the brush
end make for some lovely neat hair styles lately as well.

RETOUCH

Mini Round Brush $7.95
I love these mini Retouch brushes as they are smaller than the others in the Brushology range and are
perfect handbag and travel size. I tend to pack both this and the Mini Styling Brush with me when I
travel as they are just a great little pair. Keeps my hair in place and looking neat.

Mini Styling Brush $7.95
This is great for on the go touch ups. I love that it is ceramic so even when I am out I can keep my
hair in check. Even after blow drying, straightening, dry shampooing & hair spraying, my hair still
finds a way to misbehave throughout the day, so having one of these styling brushes with me at all
times is a must!

ECOTOOLS

~  ECO TOOLS  ~

Fresh & Flawless

5 Piece Complexion Set!

I have been needing to invest in a good set of make-up brushes for a long time. I did purchase
a mini travel set of 3 Real Techniques brushes a little while ago, and although they are amazing
and I love and use them almost daily, they are mini and I wanted ones with a longer handle!

I'd always heard good things about Eco Tools, particularly their make-up brushes so naturally
I had to find out how amazing these were for myself! ;)

I hopped onto iHerb to see what was available and that is when this colourful set caught my
eye and I knew I just had to have them, they are perfect!

These brushes are made from bamboo in the handles and they are completely cruelty free which I
100% back and admire! The bristles are so soft and smooth and already I have noticed a difference
in the appearance of my make-up when applied using these. They are super easy to use and have
made my life much easier of late. Now I have a brush for everything and I love that because it's
helping me to improve my make-up applying techniques!

The fibres do not leave any steaks along your skin and they're so firmly embedded in the brush
that I haven't seen a single hair fall out onto my face or even look like coming loose. They are
locked in there tight! Brilliant!

Left to right - Full Powder Brush, Complexion Blending Brush, Precision Foundation Brush,
Buffing Concealer Brush & Flat Concealer Brush.

I do love to have my brushes out where I can quickly and easily reach for and use them each day,
however I love how they came stored so neatly like this. Good to keep for travelling or
to store to prolong their longevity perhaps?

What make-up brushes do you swear by?

GRWM

GET READY WITH ME!

Pop Of Colour!

I can't help but keep the love theme going with this Pop Of Colour make-up look as pink lips
are just my thing. Always my go to shade no matter what day, season or occasion it is! I am
just drawn to it. So recently when I received this shade in my BellaBox from Laqa & Co I was
thrilled and couldn't wait to play! I lined my lips first with one of my favourite lip liners from
ChiChi called Bimbo. A gorgeous hot pink which helped the Laqa & Co Menatour shade stay
firmly in place and really pop!

Because I felt like playing with a bit of colour, I pulled out my coloured ChiChi eye liners
which I hadn't used in quite a while. I applied both Disco Graffiti and Disco Royalty to my
top lash line over the top of my Maybelline Master Precise black liquid liner which actually looked
alright, however it doesn't seem to show up very well in photos. I don't normally apply liner to my
bottom lashes for day to day wear, however I applied both ChiChi colours and I am really happy
with the result. :) The shadows look quite natural and show up a little more understated in photos,
however the Maybelline ExpertWear eyeshadows I am wearing are actually my favourite right
now and I have been wearing this particular quad the most. If you're interested, you can watch
my make-up tutorial using four of the quads from the range here. :)

Of course (and I always say this) my make-up is nothing without a decent base.
To get this even, smooth finish I was a bit lazy and skipped on primer for no reason in particular.
I jumped right in a applied my Maybelline Better Skin Foundation with my Beauty Blender and
then went in under my eyes with the matching Maybelline Better Skin Concealer to conceal my
tired, sleep deprived eyes. Oh! And how can I forget my brows. I recently ran out of my Avon
brow pencil and have been switching between my Maybelline Brow Mascara and the one I've
used here which is actually an eye pencil by L'Oreal but both the formul and shade work
perfectly on my brows. It keeps them in place and looking groomed but still natural.

To complete my overall look, I have framed my face with my hair using my current obsession.
The VS Sasoon Evoke straightener which is this gorgeous pink which matches my lips to a tee!
The L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil does my hair so much good by calming down my fly aways,
frizz and makes my hair feel silky smooth and soft. Bottle of pure gold this stuff!

DIY - Simple Brush Holder

This idea made me look at my old candles just lying around in
a whole new way. I never noticed before what fantastic jars and mugs I
have just waiting to be de-potted, cleaned and transformed into
perfect little brush storage holders just like this one I created
pictured above!

-

This is a pretty straight forward how-to.
All you need to do is follow these 5 simple steps!

Step 1
If you have some old candles lying around, take notice of
what they're actually stored in.
Would this make a good brush holder or storage container?
(Mine was close to becoming my new favourite drinking glass,
but I wanted a brush holder more!)

Step 2
Use a blunt old kitchen knife or flat head screw driver
or simular to dig out the remaining and excess unwanted
candle and wax.
(I got a strong, male, adult (ie hubby) to help
as mine was stuck good and proper!) :/

Step 3
Give it a good clean with hot, soapy water.
You'd be surprised how good they polish up.
(Mine was all cloudy and black from the candle and smoke
residue and it came up a treat!)

Step 4
If you like the clear look as I do, pick out something you want to
help hold the brushes upright. I love these clear glass beads,
but you can use just about anything from rice (which you can use food colourings to make it match your decor or if you're bold, make it rainbow!), plastic beads
which come in an a thousand different and sizes, buttons, glitter, sequins, etc!

Step 5
Throw in as much of your chosen style of filling into your
jar/glass as you desire, then add in your makeup brushes!
(This can also work well to store stationary, pens, or even eyeliner
pencils and/or lipliners!)

Find a place to store them out in the open so you can admire
your handy little work of art anytime you like! :)

What has been your fav DIY creation?
I would love to see/read about it!
