ACRYLIC HAUL

~ Acrylic Storage Haul ~

(From Aldi & K-Mart!)

Hands up if you love a bargain!
Keep them up if you are in need of organization & storage ideas!
Welcome to my life! Haha!

Recently an Aldi catalogue landed in my letterbox which rarely occurs so most
of the time I am unaware and miss out on all the usual deals they have.
I am so happy it came my way this time though because they had some
great prices on a range of acrylic storage products which are one
of my favourite kinds of materials to use for smaller storage items.
Mainly because acrylic is a much nicer, better quality material
than just plain plastic. It is stronger, clearer and lasts longer.

The acrylic items they had advertised included...
Shower Caddy - $49.99
Cosmetics or Jewellery Organizer - $12.99
Tissue Box - $12.99
Earring Holder Box - $12.99
Stackable Cubes - $12.99

Unfortunately my local Aldi only had the Earring Holder Box & Stackable Cubes.
I am so happy with them both though!

Now you're probably wondering what that extra set of draws are doing there?
Well since my Aldi didn't have a big range available, I came across these very
similar looking, smaller set of draws in K-Mart.
Unfortunately they're just plastic, not acrylic, but I still really love the
design of them and they are the perfect size to store my most reached for everyday
makeup items of the moment in my bathroom for quick and easy use! :)

K-Mart - $9.00!!!
(BARGAIN ACRYLIC DUPE!)

Aldi - $12.99
The earring holder box I am planning to use
to store either cosmetics or small sample tubes & sachets, etc.
I own way too many earrings for this small container to hold!
I think it's a brilliant design though because it keeps your items free from dust
and getting ruined.

Aldi - $12.99
I love the stackable cubes because they are versatile.
You can stack them or not stack them or buy more to make different shapes
with them. The acrylic is so thick, you could almost think it is glass only
it won't smash or shatter! Whoohoo!

Total spend - $35.00!
A total bargain if you are aware of regular acrylic prices
which are much higher!

What do you like to use to store different items?
I would love to hear your ideas, tips & tricks!

Nail Polish

~ Nail Polish Collection & Storage ~

A little while ago I shared a picture on my facebook page of a nail
polish storage rack I was waiting to receive from eBay.

Well, fast forward a month later and it finally arrived yesterday,
all the way from China! :)

I absolutely LOVE it, although it sadly doesn't hold all of my collection.
I have been watching a huge acrylic one for around the same price
on eBay from an Australian seller for a while so I might just have
to save up again and snag it so my collection can be displayed
and stored out and up on the wall where I can see it all the time.
It makes me happy to see the rainbow of shades each day! :)

The rest of my polishes are still stored in my makeup draws
which if you're interested, you can have a snoop either in
my makeup collection video or makeup storage post linked
at the end of this post. :)

I am happy with my current lipstick storage setup,
so I decided to use this small acrylic lipstick holder to house
my smaller bottles.

As you can see, everything is currently sitting pretty
on black glitter... that is the glitter from one of my weekend hauls.
It is not quite finished yet, but it's so far looking amazing and I
can't wait to share with you my little home decor DIY once
it all completed and eventually do a room tour. :)

My OPI Nail Polish Collection!

Have a wonderful weekend!

DIY - Simple Brush Holder

This idea made me look at my old candles just lying around in
a whole new way. I never noticed before what fantastic jars and mugs I
have just waiting to be de-potted, cleaned and transformed into
perfect little brush storage holders just like this one I created
pictured above!

-

This is a pretty straight forward how-to.
All you need to do is follow these 5 simple steps!

Step 1
If you have some old candles lying around, take notice of
what they're actually stored in.
Would this make a good brush holder or storage container?
(Mine was close to becoming my new favourite drinking glass,
but I wanted a brush holder more!)

Step 2
Use a blunt old kitchen knife or flat head screw driver
or simular to dig out the remaining and excess unwanted
candle and wax.
(I got a strong, male, adult (ie hubby) to help
as mine was stuck good and proper!) :/

Step 3
Give it a good clean with hot, soapy water.
You'd be surprised how good they polish up.
(Mine was all cloudy and black from the candle and smoke
residue and it came up a treat!)

Step 4
If you like the clear look as I do, pick out something you want to
help hold the brushes upright. I love these clear glass beads,
but you can use just about anything from rice (which you can use food colourings to make it match your decor or if you're bold, make it rainbow!), plastic beads
which come in an a thousand different and sizes, buttons, glitter, sequins, etc!

Step 5
Throw in as much of your chosen style of filling into your
jar/glass as you desire, then add in your makeup brushes!
(This can also work well to store stationary, pens, or even eyeliner
pencils and/or lipliners!)

Find a place to store them out in the open so you can admire
your handy little work of art anytime you like! :)

What has been your fav DIY creation?
I would love to see/read about it!

What's On My Vanity! - Vanity Tour!

So today I thought I'd share with you my vanity, what I keep on it and in it. :)
I've seen lots of other people's tours and have found them great for ideas and inspiration.
So without further a due, here is mine!

When we first got our bedside draws home and opened the boxes, one of them had a tiny chip on one of the edges, very small, but still it bugged me, I had worked really hard to save for these, I had wanted them for a long time and they should be perfect for the price paid. So we had a new one ordered in and swapped them over. The four of us weren't all going to fit in the car, so my husband went to do it whilst I stayed home with the kids.

When he arrived home he actually surprised me with this beautiful matching vanity! Because he had to go to the warehouse, not the shop, it turns out the warehouse is where all of the damaged stock goes and is sold off cheap. My husband knew I loved this kind of style and saw the vanity there which was in a lot better shape than most other pieces. It just has a crack which you can most likely see in the photo above, just about the draw on the right. We just need to order a new piece of glass to replace it and it'll be good as new and a total bargain! :)

x3 Small White Photo Frames
-
My sister-in-law & family gave these to me for Christmas and I absolutely love them!
I just need to find some beautiful photos of my babies to put in them. :)

Nic Nacks

Candle/Mini Vase/Fake Pink Rose/Tiny Silver Trinket Box/Pink Bling Pen

Glasshouse Candle in Ilima Milk & Honey
-
This was in my box of goodies from Beautyheaven for winning the 2013 Blogstar Awards, best how-to video.  I don't want to burn it, but it smells devine!

Swarovski Heart Necklace
-
My husband bought this for me way back in 2008 on Valentines Day.  We had just got engaged and were on a cruise. Best holiday ever! 💑

Swarovski Trinket Jewellery Box
-
Can you tell I love Swarovski? This is a buildable stacking style trinket box. I just have the one though. You can keep buying and building as high as you like. Pretty cool design concept! This was my 2 year wedding anniversary gift from hubby.
Secrets Jewellery Boxes
-
As I am writing this blog post, I'm beginning to realize just how much my vanity seems to consist mostly of gifts from my hubby. I guess this has just ended up being where I store some of my most precious and sentimental pieces.
I am in no way intending to brag, please keep in mind these gifts are spread out over the 7 years we have been together. My husband works extremely hard in order to be able to spoil me every now and again. He is very sweet and I am extremely grateful and lucky to have him in my life. ♡

3 Mirror Storage Draws
-
I bought this set of draws from Target here in Australia probably close to about 8 years ago! Way before my obsession with this style became apparent.
If I recall correctly, they cost around the $30-$40 mark.

Crystal Lamp with White Shade & Diamonte Crown
-
Starting off with the diamonte crown. This was bought on sale for $5 from a cheap jewellery store that I have just placed there cos it looks pretty. :)
The lamp itself was heavily reduced from Target many years ago because it was missing some of its hanging crystals. Think I only paid about $15 for it.

x2 Pretty Storage Boxes & Decorative Pillows
-
Until I get a matching set of storage draws for my clothes, at the moment I just have my PJ tops in the top box and PJ bottoms in the bottom box.
The decorative sequin pillows were the ones I used to have on my bed. Now I'm unsure where to put them.

I won't show you is in my draws as I'm sure you wouldn't be interested in my bras & underwear! Haha.

If you have any blog topic requests, please let me know in the comments below!
I am trying to blog something new every week day so some ideas on what you're interested in as my readers, would really help.

My Makeup Collection & Storage!

~ MAKEUP COLLECTION ~

&

STORAGE!

Overview!

Today I have decided to share my make up collection.  Not because I think I have a dazzling collection worthy of showing off, but mainly because I think it is a topic that is very popular and widely enjoyed by beauty fanatics and like minded folk. I know I love to read and watch people's collections and storage ideas on blogs, websites and youtube videos, so I thought I would share mine for sheer inspiration for your own collection and storage to gather ideas and tips along the way. :)

For the longest time I just had my make up stashed amongst all my other bathroom products, in draws and cupboards, and it was almost always impossible to find what ever it was I was looking for. I finally got my hands on one of these storage draws I had seem many other beauty gurus have to store their make up items and thought it would be the perfect way to store my stuff as well. This is available from Office works for around $50 and is available in the clear,  like mine, an ombre Grey and the famous rainbow shades.

Congratulations you finally made it to the end of my collection. Not a lot of high end stuff as I've only recently begun to indulge in them so I am slowly replacing the old with some new quality products. I still love my drugstore brands though too! :)

If you'd like to watch a video of my makeup collection you can find it here. If has changed a bit compared to these photos as my 2 year old daughter often gets into and rearranges my draws for me.... so to speak! ;)

I am still waiting on my Naked 1, 2 & 3 Palettes coming from the US that hubby was so kind to get me for my birthday. I am itching to try them and do some video & blog posts using them. So keep an eye out as they will hopefully be coming soon!
